Dr. Scott McQueen Joins PQIA Advisory Board

METUCHEN, N.J., February 22, 2021 -- The Petroleum Quality Institute of America (PQIA) is pleased to announce that Dr. Scott McQueen, Manager of Lubricants Research & Product Management for Phillips 66, has replaced recently retired Reginald “Reggie” Dias on the PQIA Advisory Board.

The Petroleum Quality Institute of America thanks Reggie Dias, Director, Automotive Lubricants, Phillips 66 for his many years of hard work and contribution to the PQIA Advisory Board and wishes him the best in his retirement. Thomas Glenn, PQIA President recalls, “Reggie was a consummate professional with a tremendous depth of knowledge in the lubricants business. He played a vital role in guiding PQIA’s mission to help assure the quality and integrity of lubricants in the marketplace.”

While Dias will surely be missed, Glenn adds, “It is a great privilege and vote of confidence to have someone of Dr. McQueen’s caliber join the PQIA Advisory Board and we look forward to gaining from his experience, knowledge and vision to continue to guide PQIA towards an even greater impact.”

Dr. Scott McQueen is a widely respected and accomplished professional in the lubricant business. He is currently the Manager of Lubricants Research & Product Management for Phillips 66. In his current role, McQueen leads a group that provides product development, strategy, technical and regulatory guidance, in addition to solutions and training for Phillips 66 customers. 

In a statement made to PQIA, McQueen said, “Phillips 66 takes great pride in maintaining high quality standards for our products and has been a long-time supporter of PQIA’s efforts to help assure quality and integrity of lubricants in the marketplace. I look forward to working with PQIA and the notable colleagues on its board to help guide PQIA’s work and continue the positive impact the organization is having in this field.”

McQueen joined Conoco in 1997 as a Staff Chemist in Research and Development. In 2002, he was promoted to Senior Chemist working in the tribology/rheology area. In 2003, he was promoted to Director of Automotive Products for ConocoPhillips Company in Houston, Texas. He became Director of Automotive Sales in Detroit, Michigan in 2006. He held the position of Director of Biofuels Research and Development at ConocoPhillips from 2009 to 2012. From 2013 to 2015, McQueen was Director of Technical Services for Lubricants.

McQueen grew up in Iowa graduating from Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa in 1989 with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry. He then attended the University of Nebraska, Lincoln where he received a doctorate in organic chemistry in 1994 and went on to work as a researcher and lecturer in the Chemistry Department at Stanford University until his hire by Conoco in 1997.

The Petroleum Quality Institute of America’s Advisory Board comprises a distinguished group of professionals with prominence in a broad range of fields in the lubricants business. Advisory Board members include representatives from Afton, Brenntag Lubricants,  Chevron Products Company,  General Motors, Infineum USA,   Lubrizol,  Motul North AmericaPetroChoice, Phillips 66,  Pinnacle Oil Holdings,  PPC Lubricants and  Warren Distribution.

The role of the Advisory Board is to provide PQIA’s management with guidance, advice, recommendations and counsel in how to best pursue PQIA’s purpose and mission.
